Parkinson’s, a disease resulting from the death of dopamine-generating cells, affects millions of Americans touching the lives of both friends and loved ones. Its physical symptoms such as tremors, slowness of movement, and difficulty walking serve as a constant and heartbreaking reminder of the affected’s suffering and warn us of its much more troubling non-physical consequences. Because April is Parkinson’s Awareness month, now is a great time to play your part in finding a cure for this disabling disease.
Parkinson’s causes physical pain in those diagnosed with the disorder and emotional pain in their loved ones, but the Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for this destructive disease. Their mission to deliver patients better treatments, and eventually a cure, is pursued through well-funded research and a tireless dedication to raising awareness. The Foundation is aware of treatment research’s lengthy process, and works as a catalyst to speed up drug development. Since its founding, The Foundation has funded over $285 million in Parkinson’s research, a number made possible with the help of many selfless donors.

- On the opposite side of the country, Team Fox Young Professionals of San Francisco is hosting its own benefit for Parkinson’s research. Tickets to their Tuesday Night Trivia event will include entrance into the trivia tournament as well as a free beverage and appetizers.
- And in the Midwest, Team Fox Young Professionals of Chicago are hosting Party Like a Fox, a fantastic night of fun complete with wine and food tastings, dancing, and networking.
