The Umlauf sculpture garden & museum is a serene and natural setting for the work of 20th century American sculptor Charles Umlauf and other contemporary sculptors. It is the garden setting that makes learning about sculpture at the Umlauf very appealing and intriguing.

Saturday, October 22, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday October 23, Noon-5 p.m. for the first annual Umlaufaloopa Arts Festival, a family-friendly event featuring favorite local Austin food trailers, live music, all-ages entertainment, art activities, and artwork from some of Austin’s best-loved artists.

Art Framed by Nature: The Umlauf is the perfect place for visitors of all ages to get comfortable with sculpture and with museums, especially if traditional museum rules make you nervous (Stand still! Be quiet!). Outside in the xeriscape garden you can walk by a sculpture, or walk all the way around it. Sit and enjoy expansive views, or simply savor a single sculpture. You can listen to the birds and the waterfall, or watch the water flow between the two ponds and under the wooden bridges. Umlauf visitors come wearing jeans or party dresses, piercings, sun hats or tiaras, and every now and then a superhero cape. You can tour the garden with your family and friends or with a docent; help your children find the pieces on their Sculpture Safaris; learn to make your own sculptures at a workshop; or watch sculptors making a sculpture right in front of you.
