Ticketbud & The UT Social Media Club on Campus!

Ticketbud relived the good ol' college days this week as we made our way onto the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. After taking in the sights, Ticketbud sat down with one of UT's most impressive organizations, the UT Social Media Club, to sponsor and host a few exciting events around campus. The UTSMC provides their members with a forum to discuss social media including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest and how social media is rapidly changing the global landscape! On Monday, we had lots of fun at the Social Media Club's Startup Spotlight event, which showcased three different, successful student-run startup companies including hoot.me, UThinkTank, and Graphic Fusion. It was amazing to see such young, bright, and forward-thinking minds remind us that innovation and creativity come, not with age and experience, but with dedication and passion. At the event, we also announced our "Social Media Club/Ticketbud Apple Giveaway" that we had been tabling for on campus. For the giveaway, we decided to give one lucky Ticketbud fan a FREE iPod nano! After two days of waiting, we are happy to congratulate...

We would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who participated in the giveaway and everyone who we met on the beautiful UT campus! Ticketbud is truly grateful to be in such an incredible city with such a lively student presence and we can't wait to expand our presence at UT and around Austin. Oh yeah, one more thing: Hook 'em!]]]]> ]]>

"Peace is A Verb": The motto of S.O.TERIK

While their art is ambitious and intricate, their music dynamic and fresh, and their clothing striking and sharp, for Los Angeles-based fashion company S.O.TERIK their mission statement is simple: "PEACE IS A VERB." Conceived with the belief that everyone can help create peace somewhere in the world, S.O.TERIK is a creative call to action, an organization whose sole goal is to spark within society a desire to make a positive change in the world through creative and fashionable forms of art and media. In a world full of empty promises of "hope" and "dreams", S.O.TERIK encourages an active mindset towards social change. They believe peace will come when all people help promote peace through art, fashion, music, comics and more, an ideology that takes an active approach in a passive world. Ticketbud wholeheartedly supports like-minded causes such as S.O.TERIK's that seek to spread a message of altruism and world-wide harmony. To learn more about S.O.TERIK and how to make peace a verb, visit http://www.soterik.com/index/. ]]]]> ]]>

The After-Set Film Program is selling tickets and supporting the Academy Award-winning directors of the future!

Spielberg. Scorsese. The Coen Brothers. These extraordinary directors are synonymous with excellence and acclaim in the realm of film and cinema to the point that we expect anything attached to their name to be nothing short of a masterpiece. Their adulation is justified and well-deserved but it is often forgotten that these masters of film were once humble no-names with nothing but a vision and hope for a chance to share that vision with the world. An organization called After-Set strives to give exactly this chance to today's aspiring Academy Award winners as they host one of their weekly screenings on Saturday, April 14th as part of their After-Set Film Program, a series designed to give filmmakers a chance to show their movies without breaking their bank. The Program is operated in the screening room at Tribeca Grand Hotel and allows filmmakers to screen their films, free of charge, for their own audience. Tickets for this noteworthy cause are only available online for just $10 and go to support the program itself as well as Healing The Children Northeast, an organization that helps doctors travel abroad and operate on children who need medical assistance. Ticketbud is ecstatic to provide online ticketing for a program that helps filmmakers achieve their dreams so, whether you're in NYC or not, grab your tickets to support Healing The Children Northeast and aspiring filmmakers everywhere.]]]]> ]]>

A Beacon of Light: L Style G Style

However scarce, one such voice is L Style G Style, the authoritative lifestyle magazine for social and cultural influencers in the gay/lesbian community. Founded in 2007 in Austin, Texas by co-founders and life partners Alisa Weldon and Lynn Yeldell, the magazine offers an unprecedented forum for reaching highly discerning and affluent consumers and seeks to profile people at the vanguard of social change for good. This is unquestionably one magazine that deserves to be read by anyone who believes in the philosophy that making a difference happens as a direct result of hard work and determination, not in the boardroom or political atmosphere. Ticketbud is proud to work with a company as refreshingly upstanding as L Style G Style!]]]]> ]]>

Ticketbud & the Austin Children's Center are proud to help kids in need at Fashion for Compassion!

For most children, their carefree days of adolescence are filled with laughter, learning, and a lot of love. They have food on their plates, a roof over their heads and, most importantly, parents that care and provide for them. For some, however, these simple securities of life are not so secure. Many children have experienced significant loss, trauma, abuse and/or neglect in their lives and, for most, there is nowhere to turn. It's amazing how much we take for granted in our lives while some children struggle just to get by, even in a vibrant city like Austin, Texas. But what's more amazing is how few places these underprivileged and, otherwise, abandoned kids have to turn to for help and guidance. That’s why we at Ticketbud are so excited to be supporting and working with the Austin Children's Shelter, Austin's foremost center for safe homes and support services for children, youth and young adults, as they host Fashion for Compassion, a night of fun and fashion in support of those children who have been so unfairly neglected and abused. This chic spring style show is an awesome opportunity for all and features prominent Austinites on the runway, delicious tastings, fashion focused desserts, distinctive live auction items and fabulous shopping! Tickets for this incredible event are $100 for general admission and $150 for reserved seating with all proceeds going directly to the Austin's Children Shelter so be sure to come out to celebrate fashion and bring love and hope to those children who have none.]]]]> ]]>
